Advice on How to Relocate in Retirement

As one of the top Realtors in the nation for Coldwell Banker and a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), I have been advising the 55 plus community for over 10 years on how to relocate in retirement and from this experience here is some valuable advice I’d like to share with you.

Advice on How to Relocate in Retirement

1- Pick 3 or 4 areas where you would consider living. Visit as a tourist for at least 3 days (don’t look at real estate) to see if that area offers activities, climate, taxes, hospitals, etc. that you would enjoy and find helpful in your retirement years and beyond.

2- After you visit all of these areas, one location will resonate with your heart as the place to retire to. Plan another trip to look at real estate and communities this time. Narrow down the neighborhood where you might want to live. (I can refer you to a top Realtor in that area, if you don’t know one to make sure your visit is productive.)

3- Put your house on the market (Again, I can refer you to a top Realtor in your area to maximize your property asset) and ratify a contract on your home. Once more, visit the area you want to live this time to find your home and make a hard to resist offer.

When you break it down into manageable steps, relocation becomes a fun adventure. I hope that this information helps and I’ll see you soon in the Charleston area!
